OPINION — Bill Clinton, the 42nd president of the United States, must shoulder some of the blame for the current widespread sexual abuse of women by politicians in the nation’s capital.
Clinton’s sexual predation while serving as an elected official began when he was the Arkansas attorney general.
Later as governor, he sexually assaulted Paula Jones who went public. Clinton’s wife and the media underplayed his infidelity and his party backed him through his campaign for president.
While in the White House, Bill Clinton had multiple sexual encounters over two years in the Oval Office with an intern named Monica Lewinsky, a subordinate. She provided details and evidence of the affairs. Another woman, Kathleen Willey, a campaign worker, claims she was raped during Clinton’s first term as president in November 1993.
As a result of lying under oath and sexual criminal assault charges Bill Clinton was impeached (see Ed. note). During the impeachment proceedings, another woman Juanita Broaddrick came forward and reported that Clinton had raped and physically assaulted her in her hotel room causing injuries to her face. News services knew of the charges at the time but chose not to report it during the impeachment hearings.
Clinton’s own party failed to vote for his removal from office and Democrats went on later to nominate his wife for president. Had Hillary (Clinton) been elected it would have put Bill with her in the White House where he could prey on other women subordinates.
The criminal disregard for the rights of women by a sexual monster in high public office set a precedent of permissiveness for elected officials. Just this week Sen. Franken and Vice President Biden have been accused of inappropriate acts against women. Hollywood backer and friend of the Clintons, Harvey Weinstein, has recently been exposed as a sexual predator. An MSNBC host spoke out this week about Clinton’s complicity in the current sexual mess in Washington.
Had Bill Clinton been punished, the moral standard might have been set higher. A clear message would have been sent that sexual crimes against women will not be tolerated in our elected officials.
Clinton’s apologists must not say “Bill had sex with a lot of women, so what?” These were real women with names who had their lives changed forever by Clinton’s selfish acts. He walks free and they are victims of his crimes.

Yup, and now the leader of the free world is ol’ Mister “grab ’em by the p****” himself. I think craig davis in at least one of his many many many letters has stated he is a fan of the donald, so I wonder how in his little head does he rationalize that this donald… is really any different than ol’ slick willy in regards to this sort of thing?
Cherry picking history doesn’t serve our country well. Clinton was clearly a predator but its also clear that it happened before him. George HW Bush, Clinton’s predecessor, has been accused and apologized. I would wager there has been more in the White House’s history.
Clinton apologist have definitely tarnished the moral high ground democrats claim to possess but republicans chose to carry that torch even further by electing Trump who brags about his own sexual predation. Both parties have predators they need to purge right now.

“Another who was 17 at the time recalled that it seemed Trump felt “it was his given right… because he owned the pageant.” “At the time, you’re a teenager, you’re intimidated — it’s Donald Trump, he runs the pageant,” she said.
Read the language in his words and those of his victims. Predators are men who believe they can “get away with things like that” and “do anything” with impunity. The victims explicitly talk about the role of “intimidation”.
Neither side really wants to hold their own accountable in most situations. Alabama is likely about to elect a known child molester. Democrats defended Bill Clinton for decades. But feigning ignorance on Trump’s predatory behavior is laughable.
It is true, women will let a celebrity or a man with power or a man with money do things to them that they wouldn’t let a poor man do. Just a bunch of money seeking whores.

My original comment: “republicans chose to carry that torch even further by electing Trump”. Clearly the context was Trump even before the election, not the goal post you moved. And Trump’s character and sexual predation was well established before the election and any person, not living under a rock, who voted for him knew and accepted his behavior. The only question that remains unanswered is how long voters will justify or try to disguise that fact.

Why make this a political issue? For the most part, sexual misconduct is an issue that stems from a testerone ruled society. It happens across political and religious lines. Men and women need to join forces to fight the battle to stop it. Accusers should be allowed to disclose violators. Many settlements protect the violator with a disclosure clause.

Where and When did this occur?
Marital rape was legal in the US until 1993, when North Carolina and Oklahoma finally removed the exemption from their books. Married women were not considered to be legally in control of their bodies until women challenged existing law in places like New York (People v Liberta; 1984) and Alabama (Merton v State; 1986). In fact, “The Model Penal Code” explicitly stated that rape was “A male who has sexual intercourse with a female not his wife”. The distinction was intentional and defended throughout history. Its been defended by biblical text in Corinthians that “The wife does not have authority over her own body, but the husband does.” (It says the inverse as well).

Your bible scripture is out of context. If the man was obeying God then he wouldn’t be raping his wife. And the wife would be submissive to him.
But men follow themselves and not God and rape their wives so they had to make a law.

I have tremendous respect for many biblical teachings and much less respect for organized religion. I think i fit in well with saying along the lines “I’ve got nothing against God. It’s his Fan Club I can’t stand!”. Plenty of christians i respect but many i find problematic.

It’s ironic that the party of women’s rights has so many predators amongst its ranks. The most basic woman’s right is a safe environment at work.
To say “it has always happened” or to blame “testosterone” just doesn’t cut it. The bible is pretty clear about adulatory and fornication so don’t play that card.
Blatant sexual assault in Hollywood is epidemic and liberals turn a blind eye to their political bedfellows who spread their filth on film for profit.
Hollywood was the first to be exposed and in the current situation. Don’t confuse the way in which the party and candidates cozy up to such predators with the average “liberal” (same goes for conservative). The democrats have some serious inventorying and work to do to be consistent with their values but its clearly not a partisan issue, ie Moore. Its just important to recognize the difference between the average citizen and the power players.
The Moore allegations go back 38 years, about the time Ted Kennedy and Bill Clinton were trolling for victims. Oh, and Moore’s issues have yet to be proven.
