Oct. 16, 1931 – May 8, 2018
Richard R. Taylor, born Oct. 16, 1931, in Bicknell, Utah, to George Alma and Alouise Rasmussen Taylor, died Tuesday, May 8, 2018 in Cedar City, Utah.
Richard spent most of his childhood in Bicknell and graduated from Wayne High School. After graduating from high school, he attended Snow College.
He met Helen Chappell in high school and they were married on Sept. 18, 1953, just prior to being deployed to Japan. Their marriage was solemnized in the St. George temple on Jan. 11, 1964. Richard served in the Air Force during the Korean conflict and was very proud of his service to his country.
Richard and Helen were blessed to have four daughters that loved their parents and looked forward to times spent with their dad.
Richard and Helen spent their life together enjoying the mountains, fishing, camping, cutting firewood and just spending time with each other and their four girls. Nothing made Dad happier than time spent with his family and he was always so proud of the accomplishments of his girls and his grandkids.
Helen passed away on Dec. 12, 1999, which left Richard with a big void in his life that was hard to fill. We’re so happy they are reunited after so many years apart.
Richard married Louise Bown in Richfield, Utah. They were later divorced, and Richard returned to Cedar City where he remained until his passing.
Richard was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where he served in many various callings. He happily accepted and magnified each of those callings to its fullest.
Richard is survived by his daughters, Stephanie (Vic) Sundquist, West Jordan, Utah, Debbie (Walker) Melling, Cedar City, Utah, Karen (Craig) Hone, St. George, Utah, and Sharon (Burke) Wilkerson, Cedar City, Utah; 13 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Helen Taylor; and just recently his sister, Connie Orton.

Funeral services
- Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 12, at 11 a.m. in the Cedar City 4th Ward Chapel, 500 W. 400 N., Cedar City, Utah.
- There will be a viewing Friday, May 11, from 6-8 p.m. and prior to services Saturday from 9:30-10:30 a.m. both held at the church.
- Interment will be in the Cedar City Cemetery where he will be honored with military rights.
