The world became a better place on July 20, 1928, when Dola Bringhurst Dalton was born. She was the fourth of Hazel and Leland Bringhurst’s 11 children. She idolized her “angel mother” who made growing up in Toquerville, Utah, the perfect place to be. She learned to cook, clean, sew, take care of her younger brothers and sisters, gather eggs, pick fruit, the list goes on and on.
Dola was an excellent student and loved school. She was vice president of her junior class and graduated from Hurricane High School in 1946. Some of her fondest memories came from that part of her life, but the best was yet to come.
Dola continued her education and attended Dixie College, and it was in St. George that she met the love of her life, Dranoel (Bud) Dalton. He was young and energetic, hard-working, full of life and as handsome as she was beautiful. The fact that he had a really good-looking convertible was a “bonus.”
It didn’t take too long before they were engaged. He would go to Dick’s Café every night where she worked, buy a piece of pie and leave her a generous tip. She saved every dollar and used that money to buy her wedding dress.
Bud and Dola were married in the St. George Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Aug. 1, 1947. They built a good life together working side by side. Her husband started his own business, “Buds Plumbing,” and Dola was his bookkeeper. They ran the business out of their home, eventually passing it on to their favorite and only employee: their son Keith.
Although she accomplished many things in her life, her greatest accomplishment, her greatest joy was her family.
Dola passed away on May 11, 2018, and is survived by her three children: Keith (Norma) Dalton, Toni (Ed) Bowler and Debra Dalton; ten grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services
- Funeral services will be held Friday, June 1, at 11 a.m. in the St. George LDS Chapel on 550 E. 700 South, St. George, Utah.
- Visitation will take place from 9-10:30 a.m. prior to services.
- Interment will take place in the St. George City Cemetery.
