Leroy Gregory

June 4, 1926 – May 16, 2018

Leroy Gregory, 91, went home to our Father on May 16, 2018, in St. George, Utah. He was born June 4, 1926, in Greenfield, Missouri.

He was united in marriage to Vanda on May 11, 1969.

Leroy was a World War II veteran, serving in the South Pacific with the 2nd Marine Corp Division and was decorated. At the conclusion of the war he served as military police in Nagasaki, Japan. He retired from the civil service at Hill Air Force Base in Clearfield, Utah, and city utilities in Springfield, Missouri.

He was an active member of American Legion Post 100 in Hurricane, Utah. He was a devout Christian and he enjoyed traveling, doing home projects, but above all he loved and enjoyed his family.

Leroy was preceded in death by his daughter Rachael, brothers Ralph and Leon, and sisters Elenore and Helen.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years Vanda; brother Roger Gregory of Pleasant Hope, Missouri; two sons, Paul Gregory and his wife Jolita of Springfield, Missouri, and Mark Gregory and his companion Janet of Ogden, Utah; three stepchildren, Linda Graham of El Cajon, California, Neal Ryan of Layton, Utah, and Betty Ryan of Roy, Utah, four grandchildren and four stepgrandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services

  • Visitation will be held Saturday, May 26, noon, at the First Southern Baptist Church of Hurricane.
  • The funeral service will follow at 1 p.m.
  • Graveside services will be conducted at LaVerkin City Cemetery with full military honors.
