In a media release received by St. George News Saturday afternoon, Black said the 29-year-old man from Nevada was “unable to keep afloat due to the high water current” and went under, never resurfacing after entering the water near the spillway.

The body of the man was found approximately 300 yards away from where he entered the water, 20 minutes after searching began, the release stated.

The emergency call was received at about 6:46 p.m.

Besides the sheriff’s office, Utah Highway Patrol, Division of Wildlife Resources, Minserville Fire Department, Minersville Ambulance, Milford Fire Department, Beaver Fire Department and Beaver County Search and Rescue assisted in the response.

Beaver County Sheriff’s Office will not be releasing further information at this time as victim information is being held pending family notification.

This story will be updated as more information is released.
