CONTRIBUTED CONTENT — This year’s Fire & Ice Gala is shaping up to be a momentous occasion as Utah Tech University celebrates the 20th anniversary of their commitment to raising funds for need-based scholarships. In honor of this milestone, Utah Tech is hosting a community concert featuring celebrity performers Marie Osmond and Daniel Emmet that promises an unforgettable evening of entertainment.

“It’s not very common for Marie to do a show here in Southern Utah, and we’re really fortunate,” Ronda Neilson, chair of the Fire & Ice Gala. “This event will draw a statewide audience.”

Presented by Solenté, a master-planned luxury development underway in Washington City, the community concert honors two decades of giving back to Utah Tech and helping students achieve their educational goals. All proceeds from the ticket sales will be donated to help fund need-based scholarships.

The concert, which also showcases the talented musicians of Utah Tech’s student orchestra, will be held at the Burns Arena on Friday, March 22. The show starts at 7:30 p.m. Tickets cost between $72 and $150 depending upon section and are available to purchase at this link.

The only daughter of a legendary showbiz family, Marie Osmond has spent six decades entertaining millions around the world as a singer, TV host, dancer, actor, author, commercial spokesperson, entrepreneur and public speaker. Osmond began her career at the tender age of 3, touring across America, Europe and Asia alongside her famous brothers before recording the No. 1 country hit “Paper Roses” at just 12 years old.

Together with brother Donny, she hosted the beloved “Donny & Marie” variety show on ABC from 1976-1979 and performed thousands of concerts during their 11-year residency at the Flamingo Las Vegas. Osmond has charted an album throughout every decade of her career and holds multiple gold and platinum certifications as well as a CMA Award.

Osmond currently travels the U.S. with her sold-out concerts, Christmas shows and unique symphony performances, for which she has received rave reviews. Her latest release, “Unexpected,” pushes her voice to remarkable heights. Recorded in five different languages and in multiple musical genres, including opera, it debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s Classical Crossover Albums in 2021 and has since re-entered the Billboard Top Ten 29 different times.

Osmond has written three New York Times bestsellers, including “Behind the Smile,” a groundbreaking memoir about her battle with postpartum depression. Also a philanthropist, she co-founded Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, which has raised nearly $9 billion to help fund lifesaving treatment for kids across the U.S. and Canada since 1983.

She will be joined onstage by special guest Daniel Emmet, a gifted vocalist who has enchanted audiences worldwide with his performances on “The Kelly Clarkson Show,” PBS, the CW, Lifetime TV, Fox Sports, ESPN+ and the NFL’s Sunday Night Football. This rising star’s propensity to blow listeners away with unparalleled power is simply stunning, and once heard, is never to be forgotten.

Emmet has headlined shows at Caesars Palace, Caesars Forum, T-Mobile Arena, Paris Las Vegas and Westgate Las Vegas since making a name for himself as a finalist on NBC’s “America’s Got Talent” back in 2018. He regularly tours with 16-time Grammy Award winner David Foster, and his highly anticipated debut concert special, entitled “Daniel Emmet & Pia Toscano, Simply the Best” and filmed at the Westgate’s iconic International Theater, premiered nationwide on PBS last year.

Emmet’s self-titled first studio album debuted in the top 10 of the Billboard Classical Crossover Albums Chart and at No. 1 on the iTunes Singer/Songwriter Albums Chart in 2022. He has also released a holiday EP, “Christmas,” which debuted in the top 10 of the iTunes Holiday Chart last December. His deluxe holiday album is set to release this fall.

Southern Utah’s premier black-tie event, the Fire & Ice Gala has a rich legacy of bringing together supporters and volunteers to raise money for need-based scholarships at Utah Tech. Over the past 20 years, the event has raised millions of dollars and helped thousands of students. Although tickets for this year’s gala have already sold out, everyone is welcome to join the cause by attending the community concert.

“It’s incredible to see the community come together with the mission to build up our students and help people that otherwise might not be able to get through school,” Neilson. “It wouldn’t be possible without our supporters and donors and people like you.”
